Learning programs

Learning is of paramount importance at the McKinsey Knowledge Centre. Learning begins the moment one joins the Firm and continues throughout your career. Our learning programs give opportunity to our knowledge professionals to pursue individual professional-development goals and at the same time maximize the value they bring to clients. Knowledge Network members have access to KN Learn, our robust online learn portal offering "Just in time" learning. Members can choose from a broad range of eLearning modules/ webex/ reading documents as per need.

Most of our core learning programs are global in nature, even as we continue to offer various learning options specific to our office.

Core Global Programs for Knowledge Professionals

  • Basic Knowledge Readiness is a weeklong course offered within your first few months of joining the firm. It introduces you to our problem-solving approach, develops your research skills, and offers techniques for synthesizing business and industry knowledge into compelling memos and documents. The program also explores our values and guiding principles. This course brings together colleagues from different offices and expertise areas, making it a great opportunity to build your own personal global network of peers in our knowledge community.
  • The Research Skills Workshop helps analysts who have mastered the basics of McKinsey research to take those skills to an advanced level. RSW is an intensive program aimed at enhancing problem-solving, synthesis, and communication skills in a team setting. The program also offers insights into how you can be an effective discussion partner for our client teams, building on proven frameworks and concepts to support your knowledge.
  • Our Interpersonal Communications Workshop focuses on colleagues in their third or fourth year in the Knowledge Network. In an inspiring and focused learning environment, we delve into how to be more effective in team settings, become more comfortable and capable in giving and receiving feedback, and serve as coach and mentor to junior colleagues. The program also explores ways of understanding and managing conflict more effectively. As with our other learning programs, it's also a great opportunity to meet and connect with colleagues from around the globe and to expand your personal network.

    We also provide focused learning programs aimed at helping knowledge professionals make the transition into leadership roles. For instance,
  • The Manager Leadership Workshop focuses on increasing managers' effectiveness. Participants have opportunities to become aware of their own and others‘ operating styles, build skills in leadership, influencing others, handling conflict, coaching and team-building. It also provides a forum for discussion of important issues and build supportive collegial relationships
  • The Senior Leadership Workshop is focused on helping think about collaborative and inspirational leadership and developing a counselling relationship with peers. The program is aimed a knowledge professional playing strategic roles within their units.
